Update on Boe......
He's still sweet as ever. As you can see, he's adapting beautifully to the family and cats.
Friday morning he seemed to perk up quite a bit and increasingly since then. He's playing with toys, following the family around, learning his territory and learning to sit and come.
He didn't have much appetite until Friday and is now eating normal portions. I've put him on grain-free dog food which he seems to be absolutely crazy about. Friday he went to the meet Dr Handel, his new vet. Doc thinks he's a spectacular dog, extremely gorgeous, of course he loves Cav's. Doc did say that he has a cold, so he put him on Clavamox (?) and Benedryl, which is really doing the trick.
We decided to change Boe's name, since he didn't answer to it anyway..... he's now Bentley.....( as in Bentley Azure V12.... a nice British name don't you think?)
Oh, he also has a facebook page if you want to friend him on fb.
Thanks again for everything and especially this little ball of love, A special thanks to Debbie's huggy for the long drive to get Boe to the transport and all the others that he drives to new loving furrever homes. All three of you are real angels!!!!!
Sue & Bentley

Hello Lynn,

I had Raggy with me at work yesterday and took a few pictures. Perhaps you could forward them to Debbie. She is doing very, very well. She is such a happy and calm dog. She has a new name: Miss Minnie Pearle. I think it suits this beautiful, southern belle.
All the best, Anna Mae

I am so proud of Paddy and I wanted to share with you what a smart little guy he is. I guess a while back I had told you that he had started licking my leg when I'd get out of the shower. Well, he continued that and he would also lick my leg when it was dry. He started out just doing it occasionally, then about three times a week, then daily, then several times a day. I told my sister what he was doing and she told me to go to the doctor because he was trying to tell me something. I really thought it was him coming closer to me and didn't think anything was wrong with me. A few weeks ago I went to see my granddaughter at her sorority house in Norman. On the way home my leg started hurting really bad so I stopped at the ER. I was admitted to the hospital with multiple blood clots in my leg. Now I know that Paddy was trying to tell me that the blood clots had returned. Next time I will pay a lot more attention to what he is trying to tell me. When I got out of the hospital he came and smelled my leg from the ankle to the knee and back to the ankle. Didn't lick it though. Now he is just coming and smelling my leg a few times a week. So I know I'm getting better. He is such a wonderful little guy and I'm thrilled that he was trying so hard to take care of me. My leg didn't get as bad this time because I kept thinking of him licking it and thought I'd better stop at the ER. So he did keep it from getting so bad. Since all this came up I haven't got Mary to Dr. Chris's for anxiety medication. But she is making improvements with out it. She is playing more with the other dogs. Of course she is still dependent on Paddy, but they love each other so much. She is starting to let me know when she wants treats and she doesn't have so much fright in her little eyes. She is slower than Paddy with her socialization, but doing the same things he did. Socialization has been slow but Paddy was trying very hard to take care of me and let me know he loves me. I guess he's what they call a medical dog. I'm proud of him. Hope all is well with you. I have less anxiety because if something does happen to me medically I know to listen to Paddy. Linda
Hey Deb!
Its going so well...we renamed him Teddy Bear (SIMON)...he is sooo loving. He will not leave my side and makes me carry him everywhere. At meals he sits on my lap and he just wants to snuggle 24/7.  He slept thru the night last night in the crate next to my bed. then i took him out at 6 am and brought him into bed with me and we fell back asleep. No accidents in the house! He hasnt pooped yet but he isnt eating very much. He is drinking though. He has done just fine with my lab - put him right in his place!  What a little doll-baby! Robyne

Hi Debbie,
We picked up Baxter on schedule. He was a little bit shaken but o.k. His first few days were scary for him, new house, new parents, new brother, new home. He went under the couch and under the bed coming out to eat only. We have accidents daily but he is improving. He jumps up and down when either of us come home. I think he likes us. He had the groomer this week. it's quite a job to get him because he doesn't come when called. All in all, he will adjust and be just fine. Baxter is cute and likes the kids when they visit. Timmy ( my other Maltese ) is confused and taking it all in. The will end up great friends. Thank you for your help and don't worry, he has a nice home with good parents.

Hi Debbie,
The dog is beyond perfect. Hate to admit it, but, he is the sweetest dog of all the dogs I've ever had. The kissing and loving part was true was true from my last e-mail. Unfortunately, the Schnauzers won't play together. It's been so long I've given up hope. It's mostly Bubbie's fault since he plays to aggresively for Frankie. Frankie doesn't get that he just wants to play with him so he growls at him. To bad, 'cause otherwise they get along just fine. So we play with them.
I can believe just how much you must miss him in particular. He is soooo special.
I will call you soon. I'm gonna send you some pics. Mind you he just got a haircut a couple of week ago so he looks a little different.
Thankfully yours, Sabrina

Update on Boe (Bentley)
This is such a fabulously wonderful loving sweet smart doggie.... everyone loves him.
EVERYONE thinks he's absolutely gorgeous!!!!! His fur is growing out from his "puppy-cut". He's over his sniffles and cold. He keeps perking up more and more, is learning simple commands..... lets me know when he has to go out. He's starting to do some very funny things, like climbing on the kitchen chair and onto the table. I thought it was funny so i took a picture, (its below). But now he knows that "down" means please climb down from the table before you fall. Another funny thing was after i got out of the shower, he went into the shower and sloshed around in the water that was still there. Since it was bedtime, i put a towel on the bed, thats where he sleeps, and he got up on the bed, rearranged the towel with his feet, and cuddled up on the comforter without the towel..... wet..... oh well.....c'est la vie!!!!!
Bentley gets along with the cats, they like to shnuggle together and rub agains each other. We took Bentley to a dog fair/rescue fundraiser event. (pictures wiht the other cavs) and he was quite overwhelmed. I had to carry him alot. All the Cav owners wanted to know where in the world i got a Cav rescue like Bentley.... so i passed your name along, but also told people they're out there. ADOPT FIRST.
I really wish i knew more about Bentley's former life, like where he slept, how much contact and training he had, etc....
One more thing..... i thought about adopting another Cav approx same age, so h'ed have a buddy, but decided not to. Which made me think about what a fabulous job you both do (and hubby Tim) and everyone else bhind the scenes associated with your rescue. You are very efficient at getting the word out, interviewing, making decisions, getting spay/neuter/shots and grooming done. And then arranging transportation if necessary and getting animals placed in good homes. You're extremely responsive also. I'm sure you place a lot of animals. Its hard to beleive that some of the applications i put in for adoption and foster, before i saw Boe, i haven't received responses to, or so-and-so would have someone get in touch from my area for a home-check and with all my calls, things never materialize. How many great homes and homeless animals could be matched up if you were processing them. I dread thinking of all the pets that fall thru the cracks because of the lag. Granted, its mostly volunteer and everyone is overworked, but so are you two... and you seem to get it done. I looked at your site and the petfinder site and so many of yours are labeled as going to their new home asap. All in all, Lynn and Debbie & Tim, Thank you.....you all are soooo terrific and i'm so impressed with what you're doing and how you get it done. I'm especially thankful that i am able to give Bentley such a terrific furr-ever-home. Bentley seems to agree....... take a look.......

p.s. next update will probably have swimming involved.....

Hey Lynn & Debbie:
Long time...... my life has been nuts with my kids lately so I haven't had time to update you. Rocky is doing amazing and I think my parents love him more than me! LOL! My dad who never wanted a "little dog" is completely in love with Rocky, comes home to feed him before his meeting and put on the music for him.... they take him everywhere and my dogs love him! He is not very active, he is extremely timid and you can tell the poor dog was abused in the past... it's sad, but little by little he is becoming more loving, and he even gives me kisses!  I will attach a few pics for you.
On another note, I am looking to adopt a tea cup schnauzer for myself... I have always wanted one and I want a little one to join my family.  I would love a puppy, but will take a young dog as well.  Please let me know if you know of any.
Thanks a million!  Melissa
Hi Debbie,

We have arrived at week five, and I feel like Rosie "Cozie" has been with me forever.  She has adjusted beautifully to her new home and suroundings, and we've established a good routine for her.  She and my cat, Whiskers, are sweet and funny together, and we all go on walks outside.  Everyone thinks it's hilarious how Whiskers follows us up and down the street on our walks, but this is something he has always done.  Because the cat is a little jealous of Rosie, he comes for more petting now, which is fine with me.  Rosies' health seems good, and we've only had a short bout of diahhrea which cleared up nicely with some meds and special food.  She is friendly and sweet with people and dogs, and I take her to a beautiful park so she can socialize, which we both really enjoy.  Rosie is becoming a really wonderful companion, and I let her sleep in my bedroom for the first time last night.  I just needed to make sure she could wait while I shower and do some things in the morning before going out, and she was absolutely fine with it.  I know she liked being with Whiskers and me upstairs instead of sleeping in the kitchen which she's done since she came - also without a peep of complaint.  She doesn't bark at all, which I find amazing, and is a totally undemanding little dog.

I will send you a photo of Rosie and me, maybe even Whiskers, as soon as I can have my daughter take one of all of us.  As you know so well, we rescue dogs to do something kind and good for them, but they are such good medicine for us too.  Rosie is just what I needed after losing my last dog over a year ago.  I didn't realize how much I missed the companionship, and I'm just delighted that we've found each other.
Thanks for sending little Rosie to me.  She has definitely found her forever mom and forever home.
All the best to you and all the dogs you rescue,

Barbara

Hi Debbie,
Here are a couple of pictures of Rosie and me.  Happy 4th of July, Barbara

Hi Debbie,
Here is Blitz at almost 8 months. He just got his summer haircut and he is lounging in the sunroom.  He's not spoiled at all ;)
He had his "surgery" about 3 weeks ago and is fully recovered.  He didn't like being a cone head at all!  That's about it for now!  Take care and  have a nice 4th of July!

Hi Lynn and Debbie
Kylie (formerly known as Jilly) arrived safely this morning!!! She is an absolute doll - has been here only 2hours and has adjusted beautifully. She got her first bath and now she's queen of the house waiting for her little "sister" Scarlett to join her in a few weeks! Will send pictures soon. Thank you SOOOO Much :)))) Warm Regards -Ellen

Lynn and Debbie-
Here are some pictures of Kylie (Jilly) the first day in her new home :)) She just loves to cuddle and give kisses. Has taken to all three of us - my husband (all 6'5" of him) just adores her! She loves to sleep in our laps. She is just the sweetest little thing. She did well her first night. We put her in her wire crate in Brooke's room and she whimpered a little. So I moved the crate into our bedroom next to my side of the bed and she didn't make a peep. Thanks for everything! Will send more pictures after Scarlett arrives! Warm Regards -Ellen

Hi Lynn,
We got Daisy this morning she is safe and sound. She adapted right away to me.  Jumped right in the car an off we went. What a great dog she has such a beautiful personality. Pics to follow.

Thank you so much for letting me adopt Daisy Mae.
Happy Tails,
The Lebel Family

Hi Lynn and Debbie-
Scarlett made it here Saturday safe and sound - it feels like she's been here much longer than 2 days!! Both have adapted quite nicely - Kylie (Jilly) is more calm and Scarlett is the little rascal - she follows Kylie everywhere - it's really adorable. Both love to give kisses! Needless to say, we all just love them both. Thank you so much for letting us adopt them - they will be loved forever :))  I've enclosed some pictures of their first weekend together. P.S. You'll notice my husband has lost his favorite recliner!!  Warm Regards-Ellen

Hi Debbie & Lynn, as you know we picked up Lexi (Holly) today. Already it seems like we have had her forever. My other dogs are doing well and she is already eating out of the dog bowls. She acts like she owns the house already. lol. She is going to the vet on Monday and groomers on Tuesday.  Thank you Pat

Debbie & Lynn,
There is no words I can say to express how we feel about Bert. This darling dog has been so well behaved. He is so loving and sweet. We were anticipating some situations of adjustment, and he has had none. We had a baby gate up to keep him initially in the tiled part of our house to see how he did and that lasted 10 minutes, when my husband said, take down the gate and see how he does. He is calm, he doesn't bark in the house. He goes out and does what he has to do. He a good little hiker when it comes to walking. He has his own bed next to my husband's easy chair and he loves it. He also likes to lie next to my husband in his easy chair. We crate him at night in our bedroom and he is as quiet as a mouse all night and waits till one of us stirs in the am, around 5am-6am. Our mother's are still with us, 88 and 94, and they absolutely adore him, and have volunteered to babysit, they're both in Assisted Living. I bought him a booster seat for the car today but haven't tried it out yet, still letting him get adjusted to just the house, our routine and going outside. Will send pictures soon. Thank You, Amy

Hi Lynn,
Daisy is doing so great, she walked the beach yesterday with my husband and I.  She sure got a lot of attention. Everyone wanted to know her breed and where I got her. They thought she was such a great puppy and loved her Eskimo kisses

Hi Debbie

Desi and Lucy really love each other. Day 2 they started playing and wrestling together. They sleep together and I have to watch Lucy because she eats her food and tries to eat Desi 's also. Desi loves the squeaky toys and he hoards everything he finds and puts it in his and Lucy's open crate. A toilet paper roll, brush, even a newspaper. Doesn't chew on them though. Lucy and Desi love chewing on their nylabones. Both are the sweetest dogs ever! So glad we have both of them. We love them so much! Thanks again. I'm using my cell phone and should have attached photos first. I'll send you another email with photos included.  Maureen

This is a new picture of prissy. But, we changed her name to sofie right when we got her and she responds well to it. She is doing very well. We really love her, she tends to stay close to me. Where ever I go sofie is right behind. she has adjusted to traveling to maine where we go every weekend in the summer. she definitly loves to give kisses which we do not mind at all. We are very lucky to have her thanks a bunch!
Sue

Hi Debbie,
I will still call you sometime like I promised. Just haven't gotten around to do so yet. Frank-Frank giving us a raspberry (he's sound asleep). I swear to God the dog keeps getting cuter and cuter by the minute. The three of us chilling on the couch. Bye, Sabrina

Hi debbie...i swim in my built in pool in my backyard now. I love to chase balls with my family too. Love u  flash
Hi Debbie,
She is less scared than yesterday. I slept on the floor with her and Lady last night. We had originally put her in the bathroom (pretty big one) with a nice bed, a pee pad, toys, and food and water. At about midnight she started crying so we went to check on her. We pet her for a little bit then put her back to bed. At about 2am we heard her flip over her food bowl so we went to check on her again. Then we decided to let her sleep in our room, since that's where she'll be after we bathe her. She slept in the doggie bed next to me for maybe an hour then started exploring. At about 4am, she started whimpering again, so I stood up and she ran under the bed. I grabbed a pillow and a blanket and lied down on the floor. Lady joined me, then Scout joined me (that's her new name). I think she'll learn a lot from Lady. This morning I was lying down on the floor (I am so tired) and Scout came and lied down by my stomach. It'll take time, but I think she'll open up more and more. She needs tons of love. Lady has already tried playing with her.
Hi Debbie,
Scout's so much better today. She followed us around the house and the backyard. She wagged her tail with me a few times and even chased Lady around for a little bit. She is currently chewing on a tiny piece of rawhide. She drank a ton of water too.
We'll keep you posted on Scout.

Hi Debbie, here's some more pics for you. Bubbie (big head) and Frankie. Frankie placing an order at the drive-thru. Frankie getting some love from the McDonald's girl. Frankie enjoying some ice crea. God, these dogs are having a life.

Hi Lynn & Debbie.....
Well here we are at the 3 months since our "Gotcha-Day"........AMAZING!!!!!!!! Today is his fourth birthday according to the papers. If you go to his facebook page you'll see how popular he is... (Bentley Widome) At the risk of repeating myself.... I LOOOVVVVEEEEEE Bentley-Boe.....
This is the best i could do with a swimming picture. While taking pictures, my iPhone and Camera went for a swim also.
Although he can swim like a pro, i don't think its is favorite thing to do. But he does like to get into the pool and lounge on the first step.
Bentley gets along soooo well with the cats.... hers a picture of Bentley & Latte (Himalayan) shnuggling, and also on morning walks with Robby (Orange cat) & Latte. (sorry if the pix are repeats.) Ok..... off to celebrate Bentley Boe's first Birthday here...... hope all is terrific with you all.....

I thought I would give you an update on Gus. He gets sweeter and sweeter. I just love him along with everyone else who meets him. My son is going to take his photo and send it.
Gus and I traveled to Martha's Vineyard by ferry two weeks ago and spent the night on my son's boat. The Vineyard is very dog friendly. So many people came up to me to ask what kind of a dog Gus is and petted him. He just loved the attention. I don't know if he can swim. When I placed him in the ocean in shallow water, he did not know what
to do. He is getting a life jacket this week. Gus will go to the beach after the life guards leave for the season. He is so good on long rides and loves looking out the window. My friends find it so hard to believe someone would give him up to a shelter.  I have him groomed with a long mustache and beard. He has to go every two months. No one can clip his nails on his front paws. Maybe he was hurt at one time.
He is living the good life. Hopefully, he won't be too upset with our cold weather and snow. He will have boots and a warm coat to wear. We will be taking him to Green Mountain, North Carolina within the next  7 months to meet his two tiny cousins.  Gus must be getting tired of being hugged and kissed so many times each day. I will give him an extra hug and kiss from you.
Elizabeth

Izzy made it home safe. She is not shy at all. She ate all her food and did fine when she was bathed. She hasn't gone to the bathroom yet but we keep bringing her outside where all the other dogs go so she will get the idea. I attached a couple pics...I'll keep you updated. Thanks for all your help!    Corinne

Hi Lynn & Debbie!
I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know that Wilson is the best dog in the universe!!  He’s better behaved than my two other dogs, and he loves everyone (and everyone who meets him loves him, too!) Everyone comments about his gorgeous blue eyes. The vet and the vet tech were so in awe of them, they took several photos of him!
The amazing thing is that there has been no ‘transition’ time.  It’s as if he was always meant to be with us. We all love him more than words can say, and we feel tremendously blessed to have him in our lives. To this day, we still can’t believe our good fortune in having him with us!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!  Please thank his foster mother for us, because she did a wonderful job with him!!!! I’m sure you’ll enjoy the photos I’ve attached!
With unending gratitude, Carol

Hi Deborah!
Not sure if you remember me or that i adopted "simon" about three months ago (2yr old Yorkie)...just wanted to let you know how much we absolutely adore him! We changed his name to Teddy (Bear) and he fit right in with my other dog. Sleeps with me every single night and is constantly in my lap...I am insane about him and couldnt ask for a better dog. He still has the occasional accident in the house bc, inlike you, we dont have a doggie door. But it doesnt matter, we have hardwood floors!
I will always be grateful to Petfinder and you for the work you do rescueing dogs - Teddy is everything i could ever want in a dog and I love him with all my heart.
Good luck with the pups!
Robyne Jaworski

Hi Debbie & Lynn,

Gus is settling in and we couldn't be more pleased with him. He seems completely housebroken, has a great appetite and is getting more playful, confidant  and social every day. The one problem is that he does seem to have developed an occasional hacking dry cough. It started on the 2nd day we think. Is this kennel cough and should we be keeping him away from other dogs on his walks because of it? You mentioned that you had medicine but perhaps we should be taking him to our vet. They have been closed because of the hurricane but should be back to regular hours soon.

Thanks for any advice you might have.

Kathy

Toga is doing beautifully. He has accepted our other dogs quite well. Our Westie is a little jealous of him but behaving himself so far. Toga has such a sweet personality.  He has been extremely easy to groom. He didn't get car sick coming home but we had him with us in the vehicle Friday a couple times and each time he became car sick. May have to work on that if there is anything that can be done. I realize it isn't his fault. He has only had a couple accidents on pottying in the house. He usully goes out when the others do and is doing quite well in that department.

Hi Debbie & Lynn
I just want to say hi and thank you for the things you do!  Cujji ( I have now name him Harley) is such a smart dog…. He is wonderful with me and my mom, although he still has trouble meeting new people (especially men I’m not sure if he was abused by a man). He definitely does not like strangers and unfamiliar sounds. I have been working with him tho. I have been taking him for walks and he has learned to sit. When I walk him when I come to a crossroad I stop and make him sit until I say OK to go. He is very smart and very lovable. He is coming around. I haven’t taken him to the vet yet as I’m a bit leary on how he will react to the new people. Would you suggest I try to work with him more before I bring him to the vet and strange people???  He has had some interactions with other dogs and did OK although he is very verbal with their owners…LOL…He immediately took to me…thank goodness…and trusts me completely….I’ve attached a few pics for you to enjoy. Kathy

Hi Debbie & Lynn.
We are so happy to have Harley.  Here are some pictures!
Regards, Crisitna

Stella is adjusting well. Every day she gets a little more comfortable. I think Rory is starting to really enjoy having her around. They have been playing alot with each other today. Thank you so much, hard to believe the shelter was going to put her this sweetie to sleep.
Hi Ladies!
I was thinking you might want to see the latest pics of Baxter and let you know how he's doing.
He's really getting settled in (although he still follows me wherever I go!). We think he is really happy here and is becoming a little less nervous. We've been working with a dog trainer who is wonderful and LOVES Baxter. He's so smart! So far he knows "sit," "stay," "leave it," and most impressively "place." He goes to his bed and stays while people come to the door! Even the pizza man! When we first got him I never thought we'd be able to keep him from jumping on people coming in the door, which honestly isn't a big deal with a 13 pound dog, but he learned really quickly. Everyone who meets him loves his underbite -- it gives him character :-)
The girls adore him and follow him around endlessly. They constantly demand an explanation for why he "loves me the best." Then I explain who walks him at 11:00 at night and they stop complaining! As you can see his favorite place to sleep is on top of my scrubs . . .
Hope you both are well and are busy placing dogs -- they are lucky to be found by you!
Be well,
Nora, Justin, Daisy, Lucy and Baxter

Hello Deborah,
I just wanted to let you know that Topper is doing just fine. He seems to be settling in with the family. He is still a little stand offish but I think that will get better with time. My long hair chihuahua isn't thrilled about him yet but she does tolerate him and lets him play with her toys...lol.
Thanks

Hi Debbie,
I wanted to contact you to let you know how Tanya is doing… so far she is getting along well with my Boston Terrier, Lily (8).  Tanya has more energy and wants to “play” a lot with Lily, and she is still scared of Lily a little. Lily is older, is super quiet, laid back, and very calm. So, I think Lily is just not sure what to think of Tanya quite yet. It’s just been Lily and I in my one-bedroom apartment for just over two years now—so maybe it will just take some time for the adjustment. I’m walking them together on separate leashes right now, and they are doing just fine. I’m giving it a little more time before I put them on one leash (for two dogs) together.
I’m still waiting to see how things go, but wanted to let you know. I will be back in touch with you periodically over the next few weeks. I love little Tanya- she’s absolutely adorable!  I’m wanting it to work out for both of them. Should I decide it’s not a good fit, please know I will contact you immediately to let you know.
Thank you, April

Hi Deborah! I just wanted to give you an update on Tina. she is doing great! She ate the first night and we've learned to walk on a leash, that was a little difficult at first haha :) yesterday we went to the dog park and she ran and chased. She's been sleeping at night and doing great. The only thing I can't figure out is how to make her potty. Was there a word you used? I've just been staying outside for long periods until she thinks of it... Either way she is doing swell!

This is my favorite resting place in my house. I watch squirrels & chipmonks outside this window...fun fun! Woof

                    Happy halloween debbie!
Hi Debbie. Here is Blitz at 1 year on his birthday!  Healthy, happy and spoiled as ever.  Thank you for all you help. Do you ever hear about his parents and sisters! Hope they're doing just as well. If their human parents are interested feel free to pass my email address along. Would love to see pics of them. We will keep you up to date on Blitz. Thanks again

Hi Debbie
I have wanted to write you so many times and couldn't find the time. I really want you to know how deeply in love I have fallen with Foxy. (you had named her Sosa)  She is the most wonderful dog. She is so sweet, loving and affectionate and obedient. She's perfect. Not to mention that everytime I look into her eyes I just melt. My husband say she has the best life of any living creature on the planet. We also adopted two male afghan hounds and she rules the roost. They know she is the boss but they love to play with her. She has VIP treatment. They are only in the house when they are invited. They each have a double mattress and box spring in the basement and a dog door to come and go as they please. We have 5 acres for them to run. Sometimes Foxy plays with them and runs with them and sometimes she is not interested in them at all.
In the summertime if we are not at the beach house, we pretty much live on the screened in covered porch here at home. Of course, Foxy sleeps out there with us. When we are at the beach she runs freely without a leash and absolutely loves the beach. You should see her face...you can actually see her smile when she's out there. She is the smartest dog I've ever had too. The first time I took her on the beach I was afraid to take her off the leash but decided to let her off. We walked along the shore quite aways from my house and she was doing OK. Then for no reason she just took off as fast as she could. I panicked and thought she was running away. She actually ran all the way back to the house, up the stairs and waited at the door. I don't know if she wanted her dinner or was afraid she wouldn't find her way back but I couldn't believe she knew her way back to the house.  There are so many other examples of her intelligence too.
She seems to be a little weary of other dogs. She stands back a little when she sees one but will bark. She is crazed about looking for bunnies since she has seen them on the property. She sleeps in bed with us at night and sleeps under the covers too. She likes the down comforter.
She is very loving toward my husband and my other two Yorkies never were. She really likes men too. He will be watching baseball on TV in his recliner and she will jump up on him and sit on him for hours. He really loves her and thinks we are so lucky to have found her...and he is not a little dog guy.
She knows my every move. When I pick up my purse she is all over me and dancing to come with me. I usually take her with me in the car and she loves it. I'll say,"let's go in the car", open the door and she runs out to the car and sits by the door waiting for me. If I take my bath early she knows I am going out for the day and she will lay on the couch and not ask to come. If I am in sweats with my hair in a ponytail she knows she can stick with me for the day. It really is incredible. When I am working on the computer she sits on the chair with me until I'm done. If she is in the other room and here's me winding down a phone call she'll come running in to say...OK it's my turn now. Anytime I say..OK, well thanks for calling, bye...there she is. It is hysterical. She really understands when I talk to her. If she's in the yard and I want her tom come to the porch or house I only have to call her once.
I could go on and on. She has a really good appetite and I treat her sometimes by adding chicken liver or some other protein in with her food and she loves it. She has a beautiful coat.
I just want you to know how grateful I am to you for saving her life. You cross my mind often and I pray for you all the time. I tell everyone about you too. She has been such a blessing to our family and to me. I am truly in love with her. She has a dream life. I will keep in touch.  This picture was taken this summer.  Lori

Hi there,

I just wanted to send a message and thank you for my dog. I adopted a puppy named Diablo from you in March of 2010. I just wanted to let you know that he is the best dog I could have ever received. Diablo is now almost 2 years old, and he is amazing. At the age of 6 months, he knew how to sit, stay, shake, jump, touch his nose to my palm no matter how high, lay down, roll over, give hugs (crawls up by my neck and wraps his paws around my neck and lays his head down right next to mine. Diablo also learned by using one treat how to play dead when I point my finger and say bang. Last winter, around Christmas time, Diablo unfortunately grew a small lump on his side, when taken to the vet, they told me it was a tumor. The next day Diablo was in surgery and did great. The tumor was found to not be cancerous and everything has been good. It took about 6 months for Diablo to fully grow his fur back in that spot, and he still has a small scar, but it doesn't affect him at all!! Diablo is very playful, him and I go for runs together and he manages to wear me out first. Diablo has been the friendliest dog, he loves all dogs and most all people.  He's never tried to bite anyone or hurt anything...well except for the occasional bug that he finds in the grass. When I first adopted him, it was said to me that he was expected to be 7-10 pounds....well, that was definitely wrong!  Diablo has grown to be about 30-35 pounds now which I think is great! He is the perfect size to me. I have attached a few pictures of Diablos life with me. One is when I first got him and had him in my patrol car, another is him, me and my moms german shepherd in October of 2010 for the Longhorn vs OU game.Another photo is him how he gives hugs. And the other is him at bath time....which if you cant tell, he doesn't approve of baths. I forgot to mention, Diablo has more facial expressions then I have ever seen in a dog. No matter how bad the day, my dog can tell and he will have a facial expression to cheer me up, if I cry, he tries to give hugs, if I didn't know any better, I would swear that he knows english and can understand and he can tell me things with his expressions. I love that dog!!  So thank you again, you have added something special to my life that I don't know what I would do without him!
Sincerely, Melanie

Buttons is doing great.  She's fit in so well with our family.  I have a 7yo who absolutely adores her.  I'm surprised at how well she's doing with the dog door, too.  What a smarty pants that Buttons is.
Thanks so much!  Robyn

Hello Deborah,
I just wanted to update you on Topper. He has settled in just fine and has learned the pace of the house. My little long hair chi has accepted him as her playmate now and they get along great! He also loves playing with our 2 year old grand-daughter which surprised me.  They spend hours wearing each other out. It's very cute! It seems he also loves car travel and is just content to be with us where ever we go.
Thanks again,

Sherry & Family
Hi Debbie!
Just wanted to let you know we got home with Olive about 45 minutes ago. She did great on the way home and her little tail was wagging like crazy when we took her to the back yard. She is very shy about looking around. Our dog, Taffy, has been great. No nipping, no growling, nothing. She wants her to play, but Olive isn't comfortable yet. We are keeping it low-key and calm, though, so she will be at ease. Thank you again. She is SO adorable! Ours is 13 pounds so, Olive seems so tiny!
I'll update you again tomorrow. Kelly

She made some small steps of progress today. I fluffed up a blanket for her on the floor and it has become her favorite spot. She has taken a few of Taffy's toys over to her blanket. She hasn't eaten her food yet, didn't want peanut butter but at this moment is eating small pieces of cheese from Ty. Her first bites here!
We have been letting her sleep on our chests throughout the day. I got her a crate, but no interest yet. I have the opening at her favorite spot, hoping she will discover it. My parents visited again to hold her more. My mom loves holding her like you wouldn't believe. She is actually wanting to have her. Either way, this little girl will be totally loved. My mom wants a baby to hold and love and this little girl loves being held by any of us. Her tail is wagging like crazy. I bet she will gain some energy now.
She is so stinkin adorable!

Debbie,
Just a moment to catch you up on Rowdy's progress.  He is now using the doggie door and this makes him the perfect little boy.  We have bonded completely and share many kisses daily.  I am including some picture for you.  The first two were taken on the day of adoption and the rest taken Monday after his haircut.  The groomer put a blue bow in his hair but that only lasted  about an hour before he managed to remove it.  Even though we thought him very cute, it really didn't go well with his new "skull and crossbones" collar and leash.  Thanks again for this sweet little boy.

Shirley

Hi debbie...This is sharon from massachusetts...i love my flash! He is doing wonderful
this is my new jacket for cold days!

Gus and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. My Christmas is special this year with Gus in my life. He is a good little traveler. We went to Greenmountain, NC two months ago. Gus would not stay in his restraint on the back seat. So we stopped the car and I held him all the way. Not once did he bark or have us make an extra stop for him.  The same behavior on the way back home, 860 miles. An angel. Loves looking out the window.
I sent pictures of him in October, but I don't know if they came through to you. Will try again.Take care and keep up your good work.  Elizabeth

Just to let you know that daisy has made herself right at home. She and Sophie have made friends and it looks as if they will have a lot of fun ahead of them. It's great that daisy is so calm, maybe Sophie can learn from her.  Thanks again for all you do.   Marcia

Hi Deb,

Rosie is doing beautifully, and I'll send you a photo first chance I get. I got a beautiful embroidered stocking with her name on it for Christmas which is hanging on the mantle with everyone else's. Also, she loves everyone and seems a lot more interested in humans than other dogs. People always admire her because she's such a pretty girl. She has lots of people who love her.
Happy Holidays, Barbara

They are getting along so good with one another. They run after each other when they play. It is so good for miley to actually have someone to run around with that is just about her size.
                                                                 Thanks Again! We love Her!

We adopted Phoebe from you earlier in the month and just wanted to pass along this Christmas picture.  She is doing well.  She has adapted and come completely out of her shell.  We noticed a huge change when we cut her hair shorter.  We think she likes it short.  She's the perfect mixture of lap dog with some feistiness.  We didn't expect that she would have the spunk she has since she was so calm for the first 2 weeks.  She's doing great and we have really enjoyed having her!  Thanks again and have a very happy new year!

Hey Debbie,
I have the most precious girl now, she is so sweet and a cuddlebug. She slept all night in my bed. She will be well spoiled here. This girl is housetrained and she lets me know when she needs out. She is so precious. Thanks, Janet
I believe she is going to fit in great.

Hi Debbie,
Scout sleeps in bed with us and follows me everywhere I go in the house, even if I walk around the couch. She is now eating and drinking out of her bowls and gets excited at hearing the words "snack" or "outside". She chases Lady around the house and they wrestle together; it's really cute. We are still working on Scout liking other people (I am the only person she likes and she merely tolerates my husband, running away from him sometimes, but not terrified of him as she originally was). Thank you for all that you do. Nina

Tanzy---now re-named Ginger is doing fine and we are bonding well--Great energy and she has sweet disposition-very loving!.. My older Yorkie is tolerating pretty well-----sending pictures..We have house for sale and will eventually be moving back to Oregon where I told Ginger she will have nice GREEN grass all year around-she has been exploring her new(secure) backyard----her favorite thing so far is sleeping on her daddy's lap-----I will keep you updated with pictures from time to time. Thanks again and keep up the good work!----Mary Anne and Larry
Just wanted to let you know that Scout and I are doing great. She is the sweetest little cuddlebug and has adjusted well. I love her so much.
Deborah - Roxie arrived with Sally and 10 minutes later, it was as if she's always been here. She and my little terrier mix ran and ran in the back yard, stood up and boxed with each other - it was so funny! She was in and out the doggy door right off the bat, learned where her bowl and the water is, and of course slept in the bed with me. Somebody once loved her and cared for her because she is so sweet. loves to be held and cuddled. I know Sally sent you a picture of my little family. She's perfect just like I knew she would be. I think she's a happy little girl now. She needs to gain a little weight but she's eating well so that will come. Her stitches look great and I will watch them for any sign of problem. Thanks so much for helping me get her!

Joshua and his new mommy.
I've had Dixie over a year now and don't know how I ever got along without her. She is the little Yorkie mix. She's everything I ever wanted and I adore her beyond words. She sleeps with me and in the night puts her paw on my face to let me know she's there. I live in an elderly housing area and all the neighbors love her also. They all come out to greet her when I take her for 4 walks a day. I have to laugh when they say, "Hi Dixie", instead of "Hi Marge". I can't begin to thank you for her. She's just too cute and I love her.        Many thanks, "Marge"     Sudbury, Mass.
Hello! Just wanted to let you know how little Scout has been doing! Yesterday was our one month together anniversary and we couldn't be happier! She has adjusted so well. She gets along with her now sister Coco and is the sweetest thing in the world.  Not to mention that she is very good and very well potty trained. Thank you for bringing us together!!  Chelsea
Hi Debbie,
I adopted Jada (we decided to re-name her 'Pepper') about 2 weeks ago. Just wanted to let you know that she is doing really great! When we first got her home she seemed  a little reserved, like maybe she wasn't sure if she was here to stay...but after a few days she really settled in and became more comfortable. She gets along great w/ my other dog, she's gentle w/ my 3 yr old, and she hardly ever barks...She's basically been the perfect little dog! The only one that's not too  pleased w/ the new addition is my cat, lol, but I'm sure that will pass w/ time. I also wanted to say a quick thanks to you and your organization for all you do. It's hard to imagine all the animals that would've been put down if not for organizations like yours and I think it's wonderful what you're doing for all these furry little guys! I also attached a few pictures of Pepper (they're not the best pics, because I had to take them on my cellphone, but they'll do for now)
Thanks again, AnnDee

Hi Deborah,
I just wanted to give you an update on Buddy and share the attached photo. As you can see, Buddy and our other dog, Scruffy, are getting along great! We’ve had Buddy for almost two weeks now, and it’s been so fun to watch his personality come out. He is still a sweet little cuddly thing, but he is now much more alert and energetic. He wags his little tail nub super fast and when he’s in the mood to, runs around the house in a very “busy” way. He has been eating a TON of food and has gained a little weight. I’ve been very honored that he attached to me immediately, and he definitely considers me to be “his” human. I think my husband is getting a little jealous because Buddy is getting all the attention. Buddy has brought me and my husband so much joy!  Thank you SO MUCH for saving this little guy and bringing him into our family. You are doing a wonderful thing for doggies and humans.  Sincerely, Annina

Joey with his new mom. She said he is the best dog ever, she just loves him already!
Phillip came into my rescue from Ponca City. He almost was gassed to death and barely made it out. He had been abused and was very scared. Here he is with his new mom. He is a very lucky little guy, he got a great new home!
